The Seed’s lovingly cultivated gardens offer sanctuary, privacy, medicine and organic garden-to-table dining – exquisitely prepared by personally trained local chefs. They are exceptionally maintained by a dedicated gardener and caretaker, and there is a gardener’s casita on-site. From avocado to aloe vera, bananas to berries, sapote to spinach, we’re blessed with 2.5 acres of tropical plants, fruits, herbs and vegetables, wild-grown and cultivated across mature permaculture gardens and greenhouses.

Here you will find a massage cabin hidden amongst the raspberries, a chemical-free plunge pool - fed by our spring water well and, in turn, feeding the gardens - and our temazcal, a modern interpretation of a traditional Mayan sauna, created using traditional bajareque construction techniques and multi-functioning as a sound dome. The grounds are also home to a handmade beautiful outdoor shower and dry toilet, as well as covered parking for two cars.

Above the cultivated gardens is more sweeping mountainside forest, offering room for expansion or development.

You will find The Seed in Tzununá, a traditional Kaqchiquel village and burgeoning alternative community with yoga, ecstatic dance and a permaculture school on the shores of landmark Lake Atitlan. Our neighbouring village, San Marcos La Laguna, is renowned for its alternative community and spiritual classes, courses and events, plus two esteemed Waldorf schools.
